Nirma University (NU) was established in the year 2003 as a Statutory University under a Special Act passed by the Gujarat State Legislative Assembly and has stepped into 10th glorious and progressive year in April, 2013. The University Grants Commission (UGC) has recognized Nirma University under Section 2(f) and the University is also accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). Nirma University is a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU). In addition to Institute of Pharmacy, other constituent institutes of the University include Institute of Technology, Institute of Diploma Studies, Institute of Law, Institute of Management and Institute of Science. The 125-acre green and clean campus is serene with picturesque landscapes. Excellent hostel and transport facilities are available along with a bank, dining halls, canteen, student store, yoga hall, health center, gymnasium and sports grounds on the campus. Dr. Karsanbhai K. Patel, Chairman, Nirma Group of Companies and Chairman, NERF is the President of the University. Shri Ambubhai M. Patel is the Vice President and Dr. Anup K. Singh is the Director General of Nirma University.

ABOUT INSTITUTE OF PHARMACY
Institute of Pharmacy was established in the year of 2003 with an insight to promote excellence in pharmaceutical education and to groom young students to meet the diversified challenges in the area of pharmaceutical industries, education, research and development and marketing with supreme professional standards. The institute is poised to face global challenges of the pharmaceutical industry and education with the changed perspective. The Institute houses state-of-art analytical instruments like FT-IR, Fluorescence Spectrometer, Raman Spectrometer, UV-Spectrophotometer, HPLC, Texture Analyzer, iWorx, Automated dissolution apparatus, SFC & SFE, Sybyl X, Microwave synthesizer, Biochemical analyzer, Gold suite software etc. The Institute also has a conventional two-storey animal house facility registered by CPCSEA, Government of India and a medicinal plant garden “Nirma Herbal Wealth” covering a total area of 3384.5 sq. meters with more than 165 species. Institute of Pharmacy is a model center of excellence in pharmacy, conducting various graduate, post graduate, full time and external doctoral and research programs in pharmaceutical sciences. Faculty members are actively involved in research, consultancy, testing and supported financially with sponsored projects from different government as well as private organizations.

OBJECTIVE & SCOPE
In recent years there is a growing interest and awareness of the public about their health which has resulted in enormous growth in the market of nutraceuticals and dietary supplements. The market for nutraceuticals and functional foods is rapidly expanding throughout the world and demand of the health supplements is increasing on a greater fold in developing countries like the BRIC ( Brazil, Russia, India, China) and some of the Asian countries. Looking to the enormous growth in this field, it is mandatory to rigorously follow the regulations for quality, efficacy and safety of the nutraceuticals for the concern of the public health. In this context, our seminar will provide interactive and knowledge sharing platform for understanding global regulations and status and scope of registration of food supplements and nutraceuticals in different countries. It will provide a common platform for academicians and researchers to understand the status and opportunities in global market and facilitate upgradation of concept of nutraceutical and dietary supplements amongst natural product scientists through interaction with eminent speakers from different segments of dietary supplements.
