Sinhgad Technical Education Society’s Sinhgad Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (SIPS), Kusgaon (Bk), Lonavala, Dist. Pune, is established in 2004. The institute is situated at Lonavala and gives an excellent panoramic view of Lonavala valley, its lush green landscape and natural bounty. The institute is approved by AICTE, PCI and affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University and offers B. Pharmacy, M. Pharmacy and Ph.D courses. The institute is accredited by N.B.A, New Delhi.

Two Days National Level Seminar on Current trends and future avenues in Pharmaceutical Formulations 13th and 14th February, 2016.

The complexity of formulation development in highly regulated environments requiring multi-facet components to achieve a particular dosage with sound quality, safety and efficacy. It is not only the active ingredients (APIs) and excipients, but the manufacturing and/or the delivery technologies that play an equally important role in achieving the desired quality, safety and efficacy of a drug product. The objective is to know the challenges and opportunities of delivery of drug molecules and to understand how the industry is fine-tuning by adopting new nonconventional formulation technologies to bring new drugs into the market.

POSTER PRESENTATION:Final Year B. Pharmacy, Post Graduate students and faculty members can submit the abstract in the topics of pharmaceutical technology viz. A) Oral Sustained /Controlled Release Systems, B) Mucosal Systems, C) Transdermal and Topical Systems, D) Ophthalmic Systems, E) Targeted Drug Delivery Systems, F) Protein and Peptide Delivery Systems, G) Particulate Systems, H) Pulmonary Drug Delivery Systems, I) Colloidal Drug Delivery Systems. Abstract should not be more than 250 words. Students and faculty members can send abstract to sbbumrela.sips@sinhgad.edu on or before 5th Feb 2016.

Two Days State Level Seminar on Natural Product Chemistry: Drug Discovery and Development 05th and 6th February, 2016.

A more detailed understanding of molecules present in human cells and tissues, the regulation of these molecules and their interactions with associated proteins is necessary. A key approach toward this more comprehensive understanding of human disease is to identify novel molecular tools for studying the biological macromolecules associated with them. The study of natural products offers an excellent strategy toward identifying novel biological probes for a number of diseases. Research in natural products encompasses the exploration of biodiversity for novel drug lead discovery, isolation and structure determination of organic natural products of medicinal significance from plants and microbes, studies on the structure and biochemistry of biological products, examination of the biosynthesis of natural products, and evaluation of the biochemical effects of these active constituents.

One day State Level Seminar on Treaties and Practices of Intellectual Property Rights 04th February, 2016.

With the rapid advancement of science and technology, the pharmaceutical industry has been flourishing the market with life saving drugs. An intellectual property right of pharmaceuticals is governed by patent law. India being a signatory of the GATT is governed by TRIPS, apart from having its own national IPR laws. Moreover, with the introduction of compulsory licensing and ever-greening strategies, patent laws have become more sound and comprehensive.
