The UGC, however, was formally established only in November 1956 as a statutory body of the Government of India through an Act of Parliament for the coordination, determination and maintenance of standards of university education in India. In order to ensure effective region-wise coverage throughout the country, the UGC has decentralised its operations by setting up six regional centres at Pune, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Bhopal, Guwahati and Bangalore. The head office of the UGC is located at Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg in New Delhi, with two additional bureaus operating from 35, Feroze Shah Road and the South Campus of University of Delhi as well.

University Grants Commission invites applications for the award of 1000 PG Scholarships under the scheme of PG Scholarship for Professional Courses for SC & ST candidates for the year 2013-2014 to undertake postgraduate level studies in professional subjects like Engineering & Technology, Management, Pharmacy etc. on regular basis only.

Only those candidates who have been admitted in postgraduate professional subjects at recognised universities/colleges during the academic session 2013-14 are eligible to apply under the scheme.

Selection will be made on the basis of merit by the Expert Committee. The guidelines of the scheme, detailed terms and conditions of the Scholarship, eligibility etc. may be seen by logging in the UGC website at ugc.ac.in


Applications in the prescribed format may be submitted only through on line mode latest by 16th January, 2014 (non extendable) by logging in website ugc.ac.in/pgsprof

The decision of the Commission with regard to selection of candidates for the award of scholarships shall be final.


NOTE:
1. Applications submitted only through online mode shall be entertained and no application submitted in hard copy shall be entertained or considered for award of Scholarship in any circumstances whatsoever.
2. Record of the non-selected candidates shall not be preserved beyond three months from the date of declaration of results.

ON-LINE SUBMISSION INTERFACE WILL BE AVAILABLE ON 16th JANUARY, 2013 ONWARDS.
