PLSL was formerly the NCE R&D division of NPIL. PLSL has state-of-the-art R&D laboratories built over 200,000 square-feet of space in Mumbai, India and over 300 scientists engaged in drug discovery and development.

Post: Senior Research Scientist

Job Responsibilities:
* We are seeking a highly motivated scientist with a proven track record in developing new discovery platforms using molecular and cell biology tools.
* The candidate should be able to manage cloning, expression and purification of proteins using E.coli and Baculovirus expression systems. Prior experience in working with Baculovirus system is a must. Protein crystallography expertise will have an added advantage.
* Designing of Protein arrays - Proteomics-2D-MALDI TOF expertise will be preferred.
* Knowledge of Genomics and strong experience in gene expression profiling, gene arrays, data mining and analysis is a must.
* RNA interference - siRNA and shRNA based knockdown and manipulation of viral vectors expertise is required. Candidates having experience in generating transgenic lines will have an advantage.
* Provide project management support.
* Experience and interest in supervising junior scientists is highly desired.
* Data entry and management of Lab Journals as per industry norms will be required.

Education: Masters degree in Biochemistry or Life sciences and Ph.D in Molecular Biology/ Biotechnology or a related field with three to five years of research experience in academia orthe pharmaceutical industry.

Skills:
* Cloning, expression and purification of proteins (Baculovirus, E.Coli), Proteomics, Protein Crystallography, Protein Arrays, O-PCR, Gene Knock out-Knock in, Transgenics.
* Understanding of designing in-vitro cellular assays and cell imaging expertise is desired.
* Strong data analysis skills and ability to write reports/documents, SOPs is essential.
* Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills required.
