Join in Biotech Finishing school at Biotechnology Park | B.Pharma/ M.Pharma / M.Sc, B.Sc can apply

The Finishing School certificate course will be of six months duration where 2 months would be devoted to class room lectures and 4 months to hands on training. During 4 months hands on training, the students will work on a project leading to their dissertation. In the end they will submit the report in bound form which will be evaluated by external experts. The students will be required to appear in the examination at the end of the training. The students will visit centers of excellence in city like SGPGI, CDRI, IITR and others for specialized training for 3-5 days whenever required.

OBJECTIVES:
1. To empower the B.Sc./M.Sc./B.Tech in Biosciences, B.Pharma/ M.Pharma / M.B.B.S. students with the necessary skills to make them employable in biotech industries both in research and service areas. Major thrust areas for the Finishing School would be Agri- and Biopharma- industries.
2. To provide students hands on training at various industrial units / facilities of Biotech Park e.g. biofertilizer/ bio-pesticides, plant tissue culture, diagnostics & drug delivery systems, distillation & solvent extraction plant for high value products based on phytomolecules and bio-active fractions (Students would also be visiting the CSIR / ICAR laboratories in the city depending upon their subject area).
3. To educate the students with the concepts of good laboratory practices, good manufacturing practices, IPR, bioethics, communication skills and regulatory requirements regarding toxicity testing, setting up of new units through lectures and practicals.

SUBJECT AREAS:
The students will have a choice to select one subject area from the following.

Bioinformatics & Rational Drug Design
Microbiology based products and Bioprocessing
Nutraceuticals and Food Processing
Plant Genetic Transformation, Genome, Seed & Marker Analysis
Plant Tissue Culture and Micro Propagation
Protein Expression & Scale up

The following shall be compulsory subjects for all students:

Documentation / Data Analysis and Communication Skills (report and paper writing and presentations)
Concept of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), accreditation and Intellectual Property Right (IPR).
Bioethics, regulatory laws
Introduction to basic microbiology, molecular biology and analytical techniques and their applications.
Scientific writing

Additional Practical training and subjects would be added with the joining of new entrepreneur in the Park.

SELECTION CRITERIA:
Eligibility
B.Sc/ M.Sc in Biotechnology /Life Sciences / B.Pharma/ M.Pharma /M.B.B.S/Agriculture or veterinary Sciences.
B.E/ B.Tech in biotechnology /Chemical engineering

The candidates should have at least 50% marks in any of the above degree.

Selection
The applications would be screened by a committee and the eligible candidates may have to appear for written test/ interview.

SEATS AVAILABLE: 30 (Thirty)

COURSE FEE: Rs. 35,000/- (Rupees Thirty Five Thousand only)

FACULTY:
The faculty would be mostly drawn from the Biotech Park & its entrepreneurs. Teachers from other universities, scientists from local and neighboring research institutions and subject experts from industry would be invited to deliver lectures. The hands- on training and practical course work will be supervised by the Biotech Park scientists and technical staff.

ACCOMMODATION:
At present Biotech Park donot have any hostel accommodation. Therefore selected candidates will be required to make their own arrangement of stay and transportation. Biotech Park Lucknow will assist them in finding suitable accommodation.
