National Institute of Nutrition (NIN) was founded by Sir Robert McCarrison in the year 1918 as ‘Beri-Beri’ Enquiry Unit in a single room laboratory at the Pasteur Institute, Coonoor, Tamil Nadu. Within a short span of seven years, this unit blossomed into a "Deficiency Disease Enquiry" and later in 1928, emerged as full-fledged "Nutrition Research Laboratories" (NRL) with Dr. McCarrison as its first Director. It was shifted to Hyderabad in 1958.

Post: Research Associate, Junior Research Fellow

Eligible candidates are invited to attend a WALK-IN-INTERVIEW on the following date sharp at 09:30 a.m. for the following position on the ad hoc research project entitled “Identification of candidate gene of obesity on chromosome number 5 in WNIN/Ob rat” funded by DBT at this Institute. The essential qualification, experience, consolidated Pay/Fellowship and the tenure are as under: The late comers will not be allowed in any circumstance for attending the Interview.

Essential Qualifications: M.Sc., Ph.D. in Biotechnology / Genetics/ Animal Genetics/ Biochemistry from recognized University
Desirable: Experience in genome analysis, sequencing, mapping, SNP analysis, genotyping, Bioinformatics.
Age: Below 40 years. Relaxation of age is admissible for SC/ST/OBC/PH candidates as per G.O.I. rules.
Cons. Pay: Rs.22,000/- p.m. + 30% HRA (fixed) without any other allowances
Tenure: One year initially.

Essential Qualifications: M.Sc. in Genetics/Animal Genetics/ Biochemistry/ Biotechnology/ Zoology from recognized University and the candidates should have qualified in the CSIR/ UGC or ICMR/PGI National Entrance Test (NET) without Fellowship and have a valid certificate.
Desirable: Experience in animal genetics, genome analysis, sequencing, mapping, SNP analysis, genotyping. Work experience in animal experimentation, Biochemical, molecular and genetics & breeding.
Age: Below 30 years. Relaxation of age is admissible for SC/ST/OBC/PH candidates as per G.O.I. rules.
Cons. Fellowship: Rs.16,000/- plus 30% HRA p.m. (fixed) without any other allowances.
Tenure: One year initially.

Initially the appointment will be given for a period of one year and extendable based on the performance and subject to extension of the Project by the funding agency. The candidates should bring all original certificates of educational qualification (from SSC onwards), experience and caste along with a passport-size photograph and one set of photocopies of all certificates duly attested while attending the Walk-in-Interview. The persons belonging to Other Backward Category should bring the latest O.B.C. (Non-creamy layer) Certificate issued by the respective Tahsildar/MRO specifically issued for the purpose of applying for Central Government Post, No TA/ DA will be paid for attending the Interviews/ written test.

GENERAL CONDITIONS: The conditions of employment will be the same as for the project staff on contract basis. The candidates have no right to claim for any regular employment at this Institute. The Director & Appointing Authority has the right to accept / reject any application without assigning any reason and no correspondence in this matter will be entertained.
