Job in NABI as Research Associate, Junior Research Fellow, Project Assistant
National Agri-Food Biotechnology Institute (NABI), Mohali, is an autonomous R&D Institute under Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. The institute has facilities to carryout advance biotechnology research in the areas of agricultural, food, and nutrition biotechnology. The detail facility is available at the institute website. The walk-In-Interview has been advertised for one Research Associate (RA) under internally funded project on “Identification and characterization of interacting partners of bZIP53 transcription factor involved in regulating seed maturation genes in Arabidopsis: Use of a Dominant negative” and one Junior Research Fellow (JRF) under internally funded project “Aptamer based biosensor to detect food borne pathogens in real food samples”. The Project assistant (PA) will be working on “Deciphering ER stress response pathways in plants”.

Position Name & No. Research Associate-1: Post 1
Principal Investigator: Dr. Vikas Rishi
Pay Scale and Qualifications: Research Associate-1 (Rs.36000/- + HRA as per rules)
Essential Qualifications: Ph.D in Plant Molecular Biology / Biotechnology/ Biochemistry/or M.Tech in above related area with at least 3 years of research experience with at least one research paper in science citation indexed (SCI) journal; Candidates who have already submitted their PhD thesis in above subjects can also apply (along with proof of submission).
Desirable: Research experience in Biochemistry, Molecular biology, Biophysics, Protein chemistry, Gene cloning, transgenic techniques. Preference will be given to candidates with good academic record, and research experience.

Principal Investigator: Dr. Nitin Singhal
Pay Scale Qualifications
Rs. 25000/- + HRA as per rule and Rs. 28000+ HRA as per rule from 3rd year onwards
Essential qualifications: Post Graduate Degree in basic science with NET qualification such as GATE/ICAR/UGC-CSIR/DBT/ ICMR, etc. or Graduate degree in professional course with NET qualification or Post Graduate Degree in professional course.
Desirable: Post graduate (with thesis) in Biotechnology, Life Sciences, Biosciences, with experience in developing biosensors for detecting pathogens.
Selection Criteria: The RA/JRF will be hired as per the emoluments’ guidelines and service conditions notified by DST (DST OM No.SR/S9/Z-09/2012 dated 21.10.2014)
Project Assistant-Level-II: Post 1
Principal Investigator: Dr. Pramod Kandoth
Pay scale Rs. 8000/- per month fixed as per guidelines notified by DST OM No. C- 30011/1/2007-IFD dated 21.07.2008.
Essential qualifications: 1st Class M.Sc/ B.E./B.Tech/MBA etc.
Desirable qualifications: Prior research or training experience in the field of Agricultural biotechnology/Molecular biology and bioinformatics
Duration: Initial appointment will be for one year and further extension will be given after assessment and availability of funds.
Age limit: The upper age limit for applying for RA shall be 35 years and JRF and PA shall be 28 years at time of interview (January 18, 2018), which is relaxed upto 5 years in the case of candidates belonging to Schedule Castes/Schedule Tribes/OBC, Physically Handicapped/Visually Handicapped and female applicants (as per DST rules).
NABI may or may not select candidate depending upon the suitability of the candidate to carryout high quality research. The selected candidates for JRF may be encouraged to apply for the PhD program as per the prescribed guidelines at the Panjab University.
Accommodation: The accommodation may be provided to the selected candidates in the newly built in campus-hostel as per the guidelines and room availability.

All interested candidates may appear for walk-in-interview at National Agri-Food Biotechnology Institute located at Knowledge city, Sector-81, Mohali- 140306, Punjab on 18th January, 2018 (Thursday) at 09:00 AM along-with the duly filled application form available on the website www.nabi.res.in. The duly filled application form must be submitted at the time of registration at NABI from 09:00 AM to 11:00 AM on 18th January, 2018. The candidates must ascertain their eligibility before applying, as ineligible candidates will not be interviewed. All the candidates are requested to appear for the interview with full CV, thesis/project report, experience certificates, publications and original degree certificates and transcripts. No TA/DA will be paid for appearing in the interview. Canvassing in any form or bringing influence, political or otherwise, will lead to disqualification of the candidate(s).
