Clinical courses

The University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences of the Panjab University is a premier institution of Pharmaceutical Education and Research in the country. The institute has covered a long and glorious journey of 76 years starting from Lahore in 1944 and finally settling to the present campus in Chandigarh at the foothills of Himachal. In its travelogue, the institute crossed multiple milestones and continue to head ahead towards the well-defined goals. The elevation of the status from department to the level of an institute i.e. University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences in 1994, and hosting of Indian Pharmaceutical Congress in the same year, two presidential honors of the Indian Pharmaceutical Congresses to its faculty members, a special recognition by the UGC by granting SAP in 1993 and COSIST in 1981 establishment of ICMR Advanced Centre for standardization of Drugs of Indian System of Medicine are some of the major hallmarks on the path treaded so far.

Applications are invited from the eligible candidates as per UGC Notification dated 18.09.2010 for the following posts, so as to reach the Deputy Registrar (Estt.), Panjab University, Chandigarh by 19.12.2011: -

Professors - (Grade Rs. 37400-67000+AGP of Rs. 10000 in the following Departments/Centres/Institutes): -
University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences -2 {Pharmaceutical Chemistry-1, Pharmacology-1 (SC)};

Associate Professors - (Grade Rs. 37400-67000+AGP of Rs. 9000 in the following Departments/Centres/Institutes)
University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences –1(Pharmaceutical Chemistry).

Assistant Professors - (Grade Rs. 15600-39100 + AGP of Rs.6000 in the following Departments/Centres/Institutes)
University Institute of Applied Management and Sciences (Pharmaceutical Management) -1;
University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences- {(Pharmacology)-1 (ST)}

Those candidates who had already applied earlier in response to Advt. No. 13/2010 for the post of Assistant Professor in Public Health need not apply again.

For the post of Professors in University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences -2 {(Pharmaceutical Chemistry-1, Pharmacology -1 (SC)
Pharmaceutical Chemistry-1
i. ESSENTIAL
1. A basic degree in pharmacy (B. Pharm.).
2. Registration as pharmacist under the Pharmacy Act, 1948, as amended from time to time, including any succeeding enactments.
3. A Ph.D. Degree with First Class at Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry, and experience of ten years in teaching, research, industry and / or profession at the level of Reader or equivalent grade; and published work of high quality, actively engaged in research with evidence of published work with a minimum of 10 publications as books and/or research/policy papers.
OR
ii. In the event the candidate is from industry and the profession, the following shall constitute as essential:
1. First Class Master’s Degree in the appropriate branch of specialization in Pharmacy; and
2. Significant professional work which can be recognized as equivalent to a Ph.D. Degree in appropriate branch of specialization in Pharmacy and industrial / professional experience of five years at a senior level comparable to Reader, Provided that the recognition for significant professional shall be valid only if the same is recommended unanimously by a 3-Member Committee of Experts appointed by the Vice- Chancellor of the University.
(iii) A minimum score of 400 points in the Academic Performance Indicator (API) based upon Performance Based Appraisal System (PBAS) as per proforma attached.
(iv) DESIRABLE
1. Teaching, research industrial and / or professional experience in a reputed organization;
2. Published work, such as research papers, patents filed / obtained, books, and / or technical reports;
3. Experience of guiding the project work, dissertation of postgraduate or research students or supervising R&D projects in industry;
4. Demonstrated leadership in planning and organizing academic, research, industrial and /or professional activities; and
5. Capacity to undertake/lead sponsored R&D, consultancy and related activities.

Pharmacology -1 (SC)}
i. ESSENTIAL
1. A basic degree in pharmacy (B. Pharm.).
2. Registration as pharmacist under the Pharmacy Act, 1948, as amended from time to time, including any succeeding enactments.
3. A Ph.D. Degree with First Class at Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Pharmacology, and experience of ten years in teaching, research, industry and / or profession at the level of Reader or equivalent grade and published work of high quality, actively engaged in research with evidence of published work with a minimum of 10 publications as books and/or research/policy papers.
OR
ii. In the event the candidate is from industry and the profession, the following shall constitute as essential:

For the post of Associate Professor in Pharmaceutical Chemistry in University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences -1
i. ESSENTIAL
1. A Basic degree in pharmacy (B.Pharm.)
2. Registration as a pharmacist under the Pharmacy Act, 1948, as amended from time to time, including any succeeding enactments.
3. A Ph.D. Degree with First Class at Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in the Pharmaceutical Chemistry and experience of eight years in teaching, research, industry and / or profession at the level of Lecturer/Assistant Professor or equivalent grade; excluding period spent on obtaining the research degree with evidence of published work and a minimum of 5 publications as books and/or research/ policy papers.
OR
ii. In the event the candidate is from industry and the profession, the following shall constitute as essential:
1. First Class Master’s Degree in the appropriate branch of specialization in Pharmacy;
2. Significant professional work which can be recognized as equivalent to a Ph.D. Degree in appropriate branch of specialization in Pharmacy and industrial / professional experience of eight years in a position equivalent to the level of Lecturer/Assistant Professor, Provided that the recognition for significant professional shall be valid only if the same is recommended unanimously by a 3-Member Committee of Experts appointed by the Vice-Chancellor of the University.
(iii). A minimum score of 300 points in the Academic Performance Indicator (API) based Performance Based Appraisal System (PBAS), as per proforma attached.
(iv) DESIRABLE
1. Teaching, research, industrial and / or professional experience in a reputed organization;
2. Published work, such as research papers, patents filed / obtained, books, and / or technical reports; and
3. Experience of guiding the project work, dissertation of post graduate or research students or supervising R&D projects in industry;

For the post of Assistant Professor in University Institute of Applied Management & Sciences (Pharmaceutical Management) -1
ESSENTIAL
First Class Masters Degree in MBA (Pharmaceutical Management).
DESIRABLE
i. Teaching, research, industrial and /or professional experience in a reputed organization.
ii. Paper presented at Conferences and /or published in referred journal.

For the post of Assistant Professor in Pharmacology in University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences -1(ST)
Pharmacology -1 ( ST)
ESSENTIAL
1. A basic degree in pharmacy (B.Pharm.).
2. Registration as a pharmacist under the Pharmacy Act, 1948, as amended from time to time, including any succeeding enactments.
3. First Class Master’s Degree in appropriate branch of specialization in Pharmacy.
DESIRABLE
1. Ph.D. Degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences.
2. Teaching, research, industrial and / or professional experience in a reputed organization.
3. Papers presented at Conferences, Workshops or Seminars.
4. Published work in referred journals .
