With a coastline of about 3,500 miles, inland sources in Rajasthan and Little Rann of Kutch, and the rock salt mines in Mandi, India have possibilities of attaining a high position in salt production among the salt producing countries of the world. As is known, apart from being an indispensable item of food, salt is an important raw material for the manufacture of several heavy chemicals e.g. soda ash, caustic soda and chlorine. Besides, salt is used in food processing industries, such as fish curing, meat packing, dairy products and fruit and vegetable canning.

Qualification: (A) No. of post for PA-II: (2 post) GEN Salary: - Rs. 12000 (1 Post) Botanist Essential qualifications- First Class in M.Sc. in Botany. Desirable: Candidates having research experience in the relevant field will be preferred. Job Requirement: Collection, isolation, taxonomy and mass cultivation of Microalgae/ Microbes. (1 Post) Environmentalist Essential qualifications- First Class in M.Sc. in Environmental Science/Environmental science and Technology/Environmental microbiology/Environmental chemistry. Desirable: Candidates having research experience in the relevant field will be preferred. Job Requirement: Water and sediment analysis.

(B) No. of post for PA-I: (1 post) GEN (1Post) Chemist Essential qualifications- Second Class in M.Sc. in chemistry. Desirable: Candidates having research experience in the relevant field will be preferred. Job Requirement: Extraction of lipids from microalgae, optimization of oil extraction protocol, fatty acid profiling and transesterification of oil for biodiesel production.

General Conditions: Applications are invited for Project assistant level-II to work in the research project entitled 'Biofuel from marine microalgae'
The posts are purely temporary for duration of sponsored project/scheme only. It would, therefore, not confer any right/claim implicit or explicit for any candidates for claiming extension or absorption in CSMCRI/CSIR.

Age: Candidates should not be more than 28 years as on 29th August, 2011. However, upper age limit may be relaxed as per CSIR rules for the SC/ ST/ OBC/ Handicapped candidates.

The interested candidates meeting the above stated requirements may attend the walk-in-interview with a copy of detailed bio-data enclosing photocopies of all certificates, reprints etc. along with the original certificates of qualification, experience etc. in support of their claim on 29th August  2011 at 9:30 A.M. at Central Salt & Marine Chemicals Research Institute, Gijubhai Badheka Marg, Bhavnagar-364021.
