Report on National Symposium on NATURAL COSMETICS: Innovation & Trend

Somalwar’s  Nikalas  Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Nagpur  in collaboration with Mahatma Gandhi Institute For Rural Industrialization, Wardha had organized National Symposium on Natural Cosmetics: Innovation & Trends on 5th January 2016. It was inaugurated by lightening traditional lamp by Dr.P.G.Yeole, Pro Vice Chancellor, RTM Nagpur University, Dr.Prafull Kale, Director-MGIRI, Dr.Seema Somalwar-Principal, Nikalas Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Advocate Shri Madhukarrao Somalwar, President, Somalwar Education Society, Vinay Kumar Singh-General Manager, Mikasa Cosmetics Limited, Dr. Sheela Kulkarni-HOD, LAD College.

Inaugural session was addressed by Dr. P.G. Yeole, who talked about education system and plans of RTM Nagpur University. Dr. Seema Somalwar, Dr.Prafull Kale, Advocate Shri Madhukarrao Somalwar, Dr. D.D.Wasule-Coordinator, Special Task force committee for Cosmetics Technology, RTM Nagpur University spoke during the occasion. Keynote address was delivered by Mr. Prabodh Halde of Marico Ltd., who talked about safety and quality issue of Natural Cosmetics. He also talked about the role of regulations in India.

Technical Session was started by Vinay Kumar Singh-G.M.(Tech.), Mikasa Cosmetics Ltd., Ahmedabad by deliberating on Recent Advances in Natural Cosmetics. A teacher in him was perhaps heavy on students.

Other Speaker was Mr. Rahul Phate-Director, Mrunalini  Herbaceutical Pvt.Ltd., Nashik, who gave an impressive talk on Value Addition of Cosmetics using herbal extract sharing his experience of product development.

Next Speaker was Mr. Rahul Bhalchandra-Co-founder & CEO, YLG India, Bangalore on Natural Health Spa and Wellness by stressing on need of consumer and demand of Green Products.

The last technical speaker was Dr. Ravleen Singh Khurana-Director, Nitika Pharma., Nagpur, who spoke on Nanotechnological approach in Natural Cosmetics, stressing on nano Zinc Oxide developed by him which is being used as transparent UV filter by renowned Cosmetics manufacturers.

A poster Competition was also organized alongside which had over whelming participation of 60 students from various colleges in Nagpur, Akola & Mumbai showcasing their research on various Natural & Herbal products.

Symposium like this is required by both academics and Industries to invigorate the thought process and research to churn out safe & quality products that are required by cunsumer.
