Job Description:
* The Receptor Pharmacologist will contribute pharmacology expertise to discovery projects and will play a key role in a group of scientists working to identify novel small molecule lead compounds in the therapeutic areas of Immunology, Neuroscience, and Metabolic disease.
* They will design, develop and implement high throughput biochemical and cell based assays for a variety of cellular receptor targets such as GPCR, nuclear hormone, Toll-Like Receptors, and Receptor Tyrosine Kinases.
* The position requires a strong ability to develop innovative approaches, and a high degree of interaction with collaborators.
* Experimental work is an important part of the role and the successful candidate will spend a significant part of his/her time at the bench.

Candidate Profile:
* The qualified candidate will have a PhD with 3 years of relevant experience. A strong record of contributions to the receptor pharmacology field is required.
* In addition to standard biochemical and cell based functional assays, experience in developing novel or ‘non-standard’ assays, including high content and/or label-free assays is a plus.
* He/she will be able to handle large data sets, interpret and present data for discussions in project teams.
* The La Jolla site has a highly interactive environment and the ability and desire for collaborative teamwork along with excellent oral and written communication skills are vital for success in this role.
