Job Description:
JOB PURPOSE:
Perform data analyses for deriving insights to competitor activities such as clinical trials, launches and regulatory issues;
Support Senior Insights Manager in coordinating inputs for key management presentations and workshops
Evaluate impact of these developments on Novartis’ clinical/marketing programs; to ensure recommendations and key findings for further review/analysis and communicated to the right stakeholders;
Provide inputs into Clinical Development Plans (CDP)/Lifecycle Management Study (LCM) designs, situational analysis and strategic positioning

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES
Working closely with global clinical, marketing and CI teams to add business value through secondary data analysis; Performing background work on Resp situational analyses
Tracking Competitive developments using multiple Novartis subscribed databases e.g. ClinicalTrials.gov, TrialTrove, Adis, IMS etc, working in close collaboration with CI/Clinical/IPT teams
Tracking competitive developments and present key issues and learnings to teams
Work is differentiated from usual secondary vendors through additional value in bringing insights into trial designs/recruitment criteria/implication of meeting primary/secondary endpoints/potential guideline implications
Manage Pre-congress planning (via abstract mining) and Post-congress reporting activities
Collating materials gathered by the CI vendors, which is then reviewed and summarised. The key lessons and takeaways are then distilled by CI advisors with recommendations and insights for the brand and development teams
Developing strategic implications of ‘traffic-light’ news reports, including applicable team actions; managing communications with the team and external customers as necessary
Supporting ad-hoc projects and internal meetings such as Scenario Planning pre-read preparation, clinical trial/pipeline report updates, Global Brand Team meeting preparations etc.

KEY PERFORMACE INDICATORS / MEASURE OF SUCCESS
1) Timeliness – Associate will meet Basel client demands for due dates ON TIME OR AHEAD OF SCHEDULE
2) Service/Communication – Associate proactively communicates with the remote team clients to ensure expectations and work requirements are clear so the deliverables are in line with expectations
3) Defined Objectives Met / Deliverable Quality – Associate should deliver all work / projects as required by team clients while maintaining the highest level of quality / minimal to no mistakes
4) Methodology / Process - Associate will use the optimal mix of CI databases, clinical trial databases, KOL network and scientific expertise to make meaningful recommendations that guide implementation of strategic and tactical plan(s) to achieve customer-valued (internal and external) results
5) Overall Satisfaction level (Attitude, Demonstration of Superior Novartis Values and Behaviors) – Associate will strive to provide the best work to the customers while trying their best to reflect a positive attitude and upholding a good work environment for colleagues.

Candidate Profile:
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
Education (minimum/desirable): Advanced degree in Science or B. Pharm/ M. Pharm or MBBS or PhD in advanced sciences or medical field. MBA would be an added advantage.
3-7 years Pharma work experience in Competitive Intelligence, Market Intelligence or Business Development & Licensing or consulting assignments.
Exposure to secondary and primary databases and experience to Pharmaceutical databases, exposure or understanding of regulatory or clinical
Work experience in the US/European pharma industry a plus
Languages: English Fluency, both written and oral

REQUIRED SKILLS
Trained analyst user of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Access
Demonstrated understanding of pharmaceutical business from commercial and clinical development perspectives, of global pharmaceutical environment and challenges
Strong ability to understand, interpret and present scientific data.
Strong analytical skills to grasp problems (complexity, context etc), the scope of the solution and effort estimation
Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
Superior communication ability to ensure that the scope of projects/initiatives and expectations are commonly understood between customers and stakeholders
Good presentation skills, ability to interface with cross-functional teams on a sound clinical and scientific base
