Agharkar Research Institute (ARI) is an autonomous, grant-in-aid research institute of the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Goverment of India. It was established in 1946 by the Maharashtra Association for the Cultivation of Science as MACS Research Institute and renamed as ARI in 1992 in honour and memory of its founder Director, late Professor S.P. Agharkar.

Qualification:
For (A) RA- Essential: 1st class M.Sc. & Ph.D. in Microbiology/ Biotechnology with publications in scientific journals.
Desirable: Experience in isolation characterization and Molecular identification of bacteria and/or archaea and reporting novel special (bacterial).
For (B) RS - Essential: 1st class M.Sc. in Microbiology
Desirable: Clearance of CSIR-UGC/NET. Experience in Bacterial identification (molecular approach), taxonomy.

Monthly stipend (fixed):
(A) RA-Rs.22000/- (fixed) + HRA,
(B) RS- Rs.11000/- (fixed).


Age Limit:
RA-35 years, JRF/RS -28 years  (5/3 yrs. relaxation for SC/ST/OBC & female candidates).

Last date for submission of application: 10.01.2013 up to 17.00 hrs.

List of short listed candidates will be displayed on Institute website by 14.01.2013 and/ or, candidates will be informed through e-mail.

Date & time of Walk-in-interview - 16.01.2013 at 10.30 a.m.

Note: No T.A. is admissible for attending interview. Selected candidate will have no right of appointment against any post of ARI or funding agency.

In case of non-availability of qualified RA, position/s may be filled at the lower level as per norms being followed at this Institute. Similarly in case of JRF, in case of non- availability of qualified JRF, positions may be filled at lower level of Research Students with qualifications of M. Sc. with at least 55% marks in the respective subject. 

Candidates will to apply for more than one position should submit separate application for each position along with necessary documents and application fees. 

Candidates fulfilling above conditions may apply in the prescribed format available on the Institute’s website http://www.aripune.org., along with attested copies of qualifications, certificates, Passport size photograph, caste certificate issued by competent authority (for reserved category) and application fee of Rs.100/- for RA & Rs.50/- for other positions, payable by Demand Draft only in favor of Agharkar Research Institute, Pune, up to 10.01.2013. 

The prescribed essential qualifications are bare minimum and mere possession of same will not entitle the candidate to be called for interview. In case number of applications received in response to the advertisement is large, it may not be convenient or possible for the Institute to interview all the candidates. The Institute may restrict the number of candidates to be called for interview to a reasonable limit, on the basis of qualifications and experience higher than the minimum prescribed in the advertisement.
