The Public Petition dated 11-11-1839 initiated the establishment of Madras University. It was in January 1840 with Mr.George Norton as its President, that the University Board was constituted. In 1854 after a lapse of 14 years, the Government of India formulated a systematic educational policy for India and as a sequel to this on 5th September 1857 by an act of legislative council of India the University was established. The University was organised in the model of London University.

Applications are invited from eligible candidates for one temporary position of Project fellow to work for the UGC-UPE phase II project "Theme A: DRUG DEVELOPMENT"

Project title: Studies on antidiabetic properties of herbal compounds

Duration: 2 years and may be extended for the third year based on performance

Interested candidates should submit the application on plain paper with copies of supporting documents along with email address and contact numbers to the Co-ordinator of the program on or before 16th August 2013.

Stipend: Rs. 14,000 /- p.m. (consolidated)

Essential Qualification: M.Sc., Biochemistry with one or two years of research experience preferably in the field of herbal medicine.
