Post: Principal Research Scientist

Job Description:
The successful candidate will drive the development of new products for Upstream Processing, including chemically defined mammalian cell culture media and innovative cell culture supplements. Leveraging firsthand experience and customer collaborations, s/he will be involved from product inception through product development and commercial launch. As a technical leader and senior consultant, the individual will be responsible for helping to shape R&D strategy and for managing execution of new product development projects. The individual will provide technical leadership on cross-functional teams, working effectively with R&D, Quality, Health Safety & Environment, Supply Chain, Product Management, Sales and Marketing, and customers.

Desired Profile:
Ph.D degree in Cell Biology, Biochemistry, or related science
15 years proven cell culture experience in the Biopharmaceutical industry
Required experience in media and feed development for CHO cells, including analysis and interpretation of spent cell culture media
Familiarity with QbD principles and experience in design-of-experiments
Solid understanding of Biopharmaceutical industry trends in upstream processing
Breadth of understanding across biology, chemistry and analytical techniques
Ability to deliver high-impact presentations to customers, industry colleagues, scientific peers and senior management
High energy and articulate with positive can-do outlook; able to inspire team
Ability to develop vision, and attract, develop and motivate highly skilled scientific / technical individuals
Self-directed with sense of urgency, and excited to learn and develop new skills
Experience in cGMP regulations and practices is a plus
