Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences & Technology (SCTIMST), Thiruvananthapuram is an Institute of National Importance  established by an Act  of the Indian Parliament  and  under the 2 administrative control of the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.
The Institute signifies the convergence of Medical Sciences and Technology and its mission is to enable the indigenous growth of biomedical technology, besides demonstrating high standards of patient care in medical specialties and evolving postgraduate training programs. It has a hospital for tertiary care of cardiovascular and neurological diseases, and research programmes in the areas of basic and applied medical sciences,  a Biomedical Technology Wing with facilities  and research programmes  for developing medical  devices from a conceptual stage to commercialization, and  The Achutha Menon Centre for Health Science Studies for training and research in public health.

Job Description
Development of new biomaterials for use in next generation drug delivery systems and implant products via synthesis, formulation, fabrication, and characterization of candidates with aim of achieving targeted bulk and surface properties.
Supplement the ongoing activity


Qualification (Essential)
Ph.D in Materials science / Biomaterials, Chemistry, Polymer Science, Pharmacy or related field with at least 3 years of post doctoral experience.

Qualification (Desirable)
Ph.D in Development of Micro/ nanoparticles based advanced drug delivery systems

Experience (Essential)
Sound knowledge of structure –property relation ships as it applies to both bulk and surface attributes of polymeric materials is essential
Experience (Desirable)
Experience in one or more of the following technology areas:
development of materials for drug delivery systems, biomedical material synthesis , cross –linked /modified biomaterials, hydrogels ,biodegradable polymers or vehicles ,biomaterial-tissue interfaces, polymer fabrication processes, and tissue scaffolding/ engineering is desirable. Ability to provide leadership in maintaining the facility such as AFM, Raman Microscope ,TEM ,RT-PCR,HPLC,DSC, Image analyzer, Langmuir Blodget facility etc.

Job Description
To coordinate the analytical services of the laboratory and to focus more on LC/MS/MS.LC/MS/MS is a powerful research tool and can also be explored for the detection of disease specific marker molecules to aid in diagnosis. New programmes in this direction can be initiated with the new appointment.

Ph.D (Organic Chemistry/Analytical Chemistry/ Pharmaceutical Sciences)
M.Pham (Analytical Chemistry)

Qualification (Desirable)
In relevant areas for periods as described in job description

Experience (Essential)
Experience in handling analytical equipments and interpretation of data with an emphasis on Mass spectroscopy.

Experience (Desirable)
1 or 2 years of experience in operation and maintenance of sophisticated analytical equipment. Synthesis and characterization of nanomaterials

Job Description
Toxicology / Biocompatibility or safety evaluation of materials or medical devices as per International Guidelines under GLP,
Development of new methods /alternative test systems in toxicology
Development of new test Guidelines

Qualification (Essential)
Masters in Biological Sciences (Toxicology,Pharmacology, Biochemistry, Zoology) and Ph.D in Toxicology ,Bio chemistry ,Medical biochemistry, Pharmacology

Qualification (Desirable)
PhD in Toxicology, Biochemistry ,Medical biochemistry, Pharmacology

Experience (Essential)
Minimum 1 year experience in any branch of Toxicology with knowledge in handling standards, guidelines etc.

Experience (Desirable)
Minimum 1 year experience in any branch of Toxicology with knowledge in handling standards, guidelines etc.

Job Description
To work in a tissue engineering laboratory and contribute to the development of the critical materials and technologies needed to engineer tissues.
The candidate must be able to conduct independent research while collaborating with others in an interdisciplinary environment

Qualification (Essential)
PhD, after M. Sc in Biochemistry / Biotechnology / Polymer Chemistry / Chemistry

Qualification (Desirable)
PhD ( areas- Tissue engineering / Biochemistry / Biomaterials ) and Knowledge in computer operation
Have a track record of peer reviewed publications as first author

Experience (Essential)
Experience in the field of tissue engineering/ regeneration / molecular biology

Experience (Desirable)
Expertise related to tissue engineering
1 year experience in the animal cell culture and biochemical analysis, knowledge of various sophisticated instrumental methods for qualitative and quantitative analysis of tissue engineered constructs and scaffold development

Job Description
Design and development of novel injectable biomaterials for use in minimally invasive surgical procedures with a focus on any one of the areas viz. treatment of spinal fracture, regeneration of myocardial tissue or endoluminal paving of blood vessels

Qualification (Essential)
For fellow-C:
Ph.D (Chemistry ,Polymer science, Material science, Biomaterial science and allied subjects)
For Fellow-D:
Ph.D (Chemistry, Polymer science, Material science, Biomaterial science and allied subjects )+ 3 years research experience after Ph.D

Qualification (Desirable)
Ph.D (In the area of polymeric materials and implants for orthopedic and cardiac applications)

Experience (Essential)
Fellow D:
3 years experience in synthesis and evaluation of biodegradable polymers, nanocomposites, injectable materials, hydrogels and scaffolds and development of implants and medical devices

Experience (Desirable)
Tissue culture and in vitro evaluation of biomaterials
