hi hema, yes you can go for

hi hema,
yes you can go for sas training. If you are doing your masters degree i would suggest you not to go. If you pursuing you bachelors then go for it. Dont worry about salary, 99% of pharma professionals had a good pay only after 5 years. As far as sas and other clinical research areas goes you can move into IT field in one year of experience and have a good pay with a great life. For training institutes i heard James Lind Institute is the best, but you got to do the research on that and also on job for sas programmers. All the best

Career

Hi, It is really tough to get a decent job being a Pharma Graduate, so the candidates plan to go for training in SAS, CDM or anything else. Maximum company rejects the candidates who

1. are Freshers i.e. without any industry experience.
2. do training after paying the institutes for example SAS, CDM or PV.
3. change their domains.

also you should not pay even 5 rupees to any consultancy, coz if you pay, it is fake.

I know that it is mammoth task to get a decent job, after your graduation or masters, the reason is, nowadays for 1 job an HR gets 1,00000 applications, you are common amongst them, they search for some uncommon one,95% of them do not require freshers, coz they do not want to train anybody coz it is costly, and many other reasons are there.
The solution is, you apply more and more, try to get some referral, try to give competitive exams or pursue your education to become assistant professor or it is better that you try for abroad, please do not waste a single penny of the hard-earned money in all these rubbish things, it will not help you in any sense, try to get a job, and with it you can do training with your own money, not for getting a job, but to increase your language skills, this will definitely help in some part of your career, but on-job, not being unemployed and done the training to get job, friends! it is really waste of time and money.

Query regarding your comment

Hi, I am a B. Pharm. fresher. I like your comment, in fact I feel the same. But I have a question regarding your comment. As u told that maximum companies reject the freshers and who do training after paying the institutes. So what should we do to make career in CR if they won't take freshers in and freshers can't gain experience without entering the CR feild?

I am Base advance SAS

I am Base advance SAS certified with BPharmacy and struggling to find a job in CRO. It is very good course but getting first job is very difficult. Epoch research is giving training in India but placement is poor at present..

I think doing base advance sas is not sufficient for CRO
may be clinical SAS to be done.

SAS and Pharma candidate

Hi,

With respect to the question asked above.

1.on going training with SAS IS IT APPLICABLE for pharmacy professionals?

Answer:- The answer is "NO", these courses seek only money and nothing else.

3. Which pharmaceutical industries are preferring SAS Programmers with pharmacy background.

None, please review the same with SAS programmer on the naukri, monster.com. They require a SAS programmer with STATS background. Even if you apply, there will be no reply for your mails or will disqualify you in the interviews.

4. What exactly will the CTC starts for
UG, PG and PhD professionals with pharmacy

Without SAS == 4k-7k
With SAS and you are very very lucky in getting a job then 10k -- 15k for atleast first 02 years.

5. future prospects

Only struggle as pharma industry is flooded with graduates who work (questioning the quality).

sas

Hi

clinical SAS

1. Yes candidates with Pharmacy backround can get into SAS.
2. Best Traning Institute -
log onto SAS homepage look for academies which are certified to do so.
one in pune is ultramaxit
3. syntel, infosys, TCS, accenture, etc.
4. ctc 12,000 per month start. and wiht exp of 2-3 years it gets to and mayb beyond 25000 per month

i would suggest you to check it aain if u realy want to get into sas, as its no more laboratury work. If u finalise on doing SAS go for certified institute. if u want to et into Clinical Research browse for CR Bridge consultants, probably the only Clinical research institute to give 100% written job gaurantee else money back. moreover its on job traning. so u would passout as an fresher.

hi

I am tagged as BASE SAS certified programmer, but the present scenario is there are no jobs for freshers in this field, there may be an opportunity in some companies but they require a stat or computer sciences background or even like bio informatics , I faced a tough time in the interviews, even if you are passionate and talented at the interview they will not select pharmacy candidates and some companies don't even look at your resume if you are freshers, the problem is not in us or in the industry, it is with the software itself since it is not an open source software unlike oracle or java, the companies have to buy the license form SAS which is a huge amount and industries have a minimum no of licenses so they are not willing to take a chance to provide a licensed sas to a fresher, to get rid of tag 'fresher' you need to take expensive projects or interns so, that there might be a chance to pick u up in an interview.

There are still more better opportunities compared to SAS for pharma professionals in IT such as Clinical data management and medical coding try to get trained in CDM and get certification on ICH/GCP , CDM, Coding & pharmacovigilance mean while try for a pg-dip in bio informatics (dist) from famous universities with all these you can get a decent job quite comparable to sas programmer as CDM executive , medical coder, cdm analyst , PV executive and even after acquiring an 'experienced' tag you can shift to sas programming.

After facing many interviews and rejects to sas programmer jobs, i gave this advice, I completed my certification and it had been an year long , still i am in search of sas programmer jobs

All the Best and have a bright future,

CDM Good one!!

Hello ,

Your choice is good!

CDM is one of the best career path specially for Pharmacy students.

Try to select the best institute and start searching jobs,so many companies like ICON,PAREXEL ACCENTURE,QUINTILEs etc...using CDM and having more oppurtunities.

I dont know where u are searching for good institutes, but dont blindly believe on the tag "100% placement assistance",nobody will provide you a job, everything should be on you shoulders Hard work and sometimes luck. But few institutes will send you for interviews ,That is the time to crash the job.

ALL THE BEST!!!!!

SAS THE BEST

I do agree with all who didnt get job as a fresher 80 % of freshers will fedup with job trails...i know coz i too started my career as a fresher!!!!!!

I completed my Msc Biochem in 2008 and i joined my first job as Asst SAS programmer (fresher) in Jan 2010.

I have seen much complications in life as a unemployee.Even we (with friends) had dayz without food. Most of my friends joined as a Medical Reps...i tried almost 2 years,in the 2 years i did so much hard work, and worked as a tutor on SAS which really helped that exp in interviews.

why should we give up!!!!everything is possible guys.

Getting a job as fresher is too difficult. But atlease in a year any of the company in INDIA (almost >500) will call for a freshers drive. Most of the people will search the oppurtunities only in their home towns which is not correct. As a fresher we should go to the job once after you got the exp Jobs will come to u!!!!

Do give up at anytime.ok i have a question to u guys How many of you have attended for fresher interviews and how many rejected.?why did you get rejected? success will not come easily ,there will be lot of hard work needed to get succeed!

Now my life so cool as a SAS programmer.

Turn ur career in SAS ,wait for the oppurtunity ,and dont leave the oppurtunity .

HARD WORK NEVER FAILS.

NEVER DO CLINICAL SAS PROGRAMME

If you want to waste your money and time and want to make future blind then go for clinical sas programme.
Normally fees for this program is 2 to 3 lacs, in which you can do M.Pharm also which is approved by Indian Govt while SAS is not approved by any Govt body.
On other hand if you are very lucky then you will get job of 10000/month after doing SAS.
Also you have to learn Coding SAS language which have no connection with Pharmacy.
Epoch, Ultramax, IDDCR are major players who playing with Pharmacy persons' future.
Epoch has currently more than 70 students which are not placed. Also in 2011 only 10 students placed.

NEVER DO CLINICAL SAS PROGRAMME

Please don't discourage anyone related to SAS. The same situation will happen for any field. Just try to stick on to the particular either SAS or any other language then only u can see success in future. In terms of salary, yes there will be around 10000 for SAS programmers for freshers it is true for other languages too. Don't disourage let they proceed with their likes.

SAS is not worth for frshers.

Ye patthar ki lakir hai. jo ese mitana janate hai vo try kar sakte hai or else apni kismat ke saath khel sakte hai.
Any institute in India if Epoch or Ultramax,Pune won't give you placement unless you have a previous exp.(relevant to sas)

SAS is better but not these institutes. They teach only bookish knowledge but from sas ref.ed guides(max vol. three) And in real SAS is A PG degree vast. To get practical hands on it is again the toughest part. For example.-- 1 day if you read and learn 10 pages of concepts(T&P). Then Base and Adv SAS requires atleast 1 year for throughout knowledge.
Institute tells you taht you don't require that much fro placement, but in real you that's how require exp either.

An second thing no need to emphasis for certification. If you have exp. in sas work domain out of 5/100 will ask for certification. Don not over spend your money.

I am Saranya, completed m.pharmacy with 82%. In my own experience, Don't join SAS, dont waste your money and time .from my friends advice I completed SAS, First they promised me I should get 20,000 to 30,000.
But real fact is FAKE, Nothing,IF ANYONE SAYS THEY WILL GET JOB FOR YOU.DONT BELIVE AND DONT FOLLOW THEIR MAIL AND MOBILE.
Some persons speaks nicely and promise to offer a job.Only you can get lot of calls at midnight.
