Doctor Harisingh Gour Vishwavidyalaya, formerly University, was established on 18th July 1946 by Dr. Harisingh Gour by his lifetime saving. This 18th University of India and the oldest and the biggest University of Madhya Pradesh has perhaps the singular distinction of being founded by the munificence of a single person's hard earned money of about two crore of rupees. Sir Hari Singh Gour (Nov. 26.1870 – Dec. 25. 1949).
Applications are invited for Admission to Ph.D. programme in Music, Library and Information Science., Education., Yogic Science, Economics, Philosophy, Psychology, Political Science, Sociology, Hindi, Linguistics, Urdu, Anthropology, Criminology, Applied Geology, Pharmacy,. Botany, Applied Microbiology & Biotechnology, Zoology, Chemistry, Computer Science, & Applications, Mathematics, Physics, Commerce, Business Administration. Last date for application for all Subjects is 15 th October, 2010. The details of the entrance test and other rules are available on University website www.sagaruniversity.nic.in, and www. dhsgsu.ac.in.
Entrance test would be conducted by the concerned Head of the Departments. The applications are also invited for M.Phil Program in History, Philosophy, Ancient Indian History Culture & Archeology, Hindi, Political Science and Public Administration. NET/GATE/ National Scholarships holders may be admitted directly to the Ph.D. Programme, however, they will not be entitled for University fellowship without entrance test. Maximum age limit 28 years as on date of application. All applications duly completed should be submitted to the respective departments where the candidate is interested to pursue M.Phil./Ph.D. programme. A draft of Rs. 800/- (400/- for SC/ST) should be enclosed with the application form. The draft should be payable at SBI Sagar University Branch, 1143 in the name of Registrar, Dr. H.S.Gour University, Sagar. 50% seats would be filled by Direct admission & 50% would be filled through Entrance test. A common entrance test will be for Ph.D. & M.Phil. programme. Reservation to SC, ST, OBC (Non-cremylayer) and PH will be given as per rules of Govt. of India.
