JOB DESCRIPTION:
THE POSITION:
Provide scientific expertise and preclinical efficacy studies to EPD Development projects
CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide scientific support to further development of established pharmaceuticals in the area of pharmacology and preclinical efficacy.
- Propose, initiate, monitor and report preclinical efficacy studies of established pharmaceuticals.
- Represent Preclinical in project teams and workstreams as needed and provide scientific advice to project teams, development workstreams, Regulatory function colleagues, and EPD Development management.
- Provide expert statements to authorities on preclinical efficacy of established products.
- Prepare/update nonclinical part of regulatory documents (e.g. dossiers, IBs, SPC) for established products.
- Participate in scientific peer review of Preclinical team output.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITY / SCOPE:
- Reports to Director EPD Preclinical Development
- Represents Abbott/EPD in scientific conferences and interactions with regulatory authorities
- Represents EPD Preclinical in interactions with many functions in EPD Development
- Ensures adequate and timely preclinical support for all EPD established pharmaceuticals
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE / REQUIREMENTS
Broad expertise and experience in preclinical R&D, proven ability to effectively work in complex, multifunctional teams. Documented experience with efficacy profiling of preclinical compounds and established pharmaceuticals.
EDUCATION:
Ph.D. (or equivalent) in a relevant area of Life Sciences, scientific expertise in preclinical pharmacology.
