Post: Program Manager

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the smooth functioning of AHF projects in India.
  • Provides managerial and technical oversight for AHF India program, which includes but is not limited to: capacity building, project logistics, security, finance and administration.
  • Prepares and administers program budgets and strategic business plans, and evaluates financial program effectiveness.
  • Generates regular country program reports for AHF Corporate Headquarters, AHF Global Secretariat, India Bureau Secretariat and donors as required. Serves as AHF's representative of the country program with implementing partners, private and public agencies, national AIDS programs, and major donor agencies. Represents AHF at meetings with on HIV/AIDS issues, and maintains a wide-range of professional contacts with government and non-governmental organizations.
  • Promote, advocate and integrate AHF perspective on HIV/ AIDS related policy, laws and regulations into national HIV/AIDS control strategy and build up partnership with other stakeholders in national HIV/AIDS related network, improving communication, experience exchanging and cooperation. Coordinate and liaise with Ministry of Health – NACO, partners at the collaborative ART sites, PLHA networks, NGOs, INGOS and other key stakeholders on a regular basis.  
  • Identify training needs, plan and coordinate training programs and activities in collaboration with the APBC, AHF’s Director of Training, and local implementing partners;
  • Prepare project proposals pursue resource acquisitions and explore funding, leveraging support to enhance and expand AHF India Cares program.
  • Identify new donors and resource from other sources, develop concept papers, write grant proposal and give pitches for new resource to advance AHF mission in India; to liaise with external and internal agencies including funding agencies as appropriate;

  • Update AHF India Bureau and AHF Corporate Headquarters with the latest information about HIV/AIDS related policy, laws, guidelines and regulations in India and also distributes it to doctors and managers in project sites.
  • Conduct regular monitoring and evaluation of the project outlined in the work plans and to keep APBC informed of the quality, relevance and other important issues of the projects to manage effective implementation to achieve targets of the set objectives.
  • Make necessary visits to various provinces for rapid situation analysis and produce report of the situation and the feasibility and recommendations for planning and strategy for needed areas of intervention in the HIV/AIDS treatment and care.
  • Regular detailed reporting of the day to day activities and progress, send updates on a weekly, monthly basis and detailed quarterly reports to AHF India Bureau Chief on project activities and a detailed quarterly report for AHF consultations and reviews.
  • And any other task as assigned by AHF India Bureau Chief.

Education and/or Experience    

  • Post graduation in Management/ Health/ Development Studies    
  • At least 5 years experiences in HIV/AIDS field    
  • Strategic thinker with ability to lead, manage and represent an AHF    
  • Experience in managing staff team, equipments, and other resources.    
  • Experience in managing finances and supervising production of accounts and financial reports    
  • Experience in proposal writing and fund raising

Language Skills        
1) Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.      
2) Ability to write and comprehends simple correspondence    
3) Ability to effectively present information in one- on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Other Skills and Abilities     
Be a Indian national    
Ability to work to deadlines.    
Ability to devise and manage a country strategy, planning and budgets.     Ability to implement, monitors, review and evaluate a program of work.     Effective communication skills at all levels – with government, partners and colleagues.    
Excellent written and spoken English and Hindi.    
Willingness to travel both in country and abroad.
