Post: Product Manager - Upstream Technology

Purpose   
The primary responsibility of product manager role is to provide multifunctional support including to the sales team in promoting Upstream product portfolio to the biopharma industry. To provides application support in the form of technical product presentations, query resolution, coordinating with the global team and training to the industry and academia. The position is in a highly dynamic group and provides many opportunities for individual career development.

Job Description
1. The management of a designated product range(s) over its life cycle within a product portfolio of a business area in a manner that maximizes the overall return/profit to the company, within the context of company, business area and marketing plans. Ensures compliance with quality systems, regulatory requirements, and commercial change process.
2. Lead the commercial input to the product development process once the product definition is approved. Identify target market(s) for Product Models & Offerings.
3. Manages all aspects of the product (s) life cycle starting with the detailed planning phase (in development) until the product is terminated. Define Product Models and Structures. Identify Offerings Items & Structures.
4. Strategic and tactical supply management of existing products to market for multiple customers and applications.
5. Managing Platform Products fully recognizing the company benefit that can be obtained by facilitating the use of these for applications in other global business areas.
6. Maximizing the company profit over the product (s) entire life cycle.
7. Management of the cross-functional interface with product development and manufacturing.
8. Own the complete USP product portfolio- from lead generation to order closing and execution.
9. Working closely with regional managers across the country to provide support for USP product portfolio.
10. Work closely with customers in understanding the requirements and identifying the right product or product mix to meet the requirement.
11. Coordinate with global and local stake holders for successful execution of the project including FAT/SAT
12. Lead design-in activities for the reedy to process, filtration and bioreactor product portfolio.

Quality Specific Goals:
1. Aware of and comply with the GEHC Quality Manual, Quality Management System, Quality Management Policy, Quality Goals, and applicable laws and regulations as they apply to this job type/position
2. Complete all planned Quality & Compliance training within the defined deadlines
3. Identify and report any quality or compliance concerns and take immediate corrective action as required
4. Lead quality: improve product reliability, implement and operationalize the QMS, zero enforcement actions through effective QMS management and inspection readiness.
5. Establish a commitment to quality and communicate the importance of meeting statutory, regulatory and customer requirements. Ensure quality policy is understood, implemented and maintained at all levels of the organization. Establish and communicate quality objectives that are measurable and consistent with the quality policy.
6. Maintain adequate organizational structures and adequate resources of sufficiently trained personnel. Ensure qualified personnel relative to assigned responsibilities. Ensure appropriate responsibility, independence and authority of all personnel who manage, perform and assess work affecting quality.

Required Qualifications:
1.Master’s Degree in science/technology/Life Sciences/Biochemistry/Biotechnology/Microbiology with 6-10+ years of experience in biopharmaceutical industry in field of upstream operations.
2. Ph.D in Life Sciences/Biochemistry/ Biotechnology/ Microbiology with 4-7 years of experience in biopharmaceutical industry in field of upstream operations.
3. Excellent oral and written communications skills
4. Strong analytical and process skills
5. Strong project management skills
6. Strong communication skills
7. Ability to work effectively within a matrix environment

Candidate Profile
1. PhD in Biological Sciences, MBA
2.Prior hands-on experience in Upstream process development/manufacturing using single use technology.
3. CMO or Pharmaceutical Industry experience
4. Innovation – develop new ideas through collaboration and execute on creative ideas
5. Team oriented – ability to motivate and work well with diverse, cross-functional teams
6. Proven ability to work globally
7. Proven ability to influence and negotiate internally and with customers.
