Clinical courses

West Bengal University of Animal & Fishery Sciences was established on 2nd January, 1995 vide West Bengal University of Animal & Fishery Sciences Act - 1995 to impart education, training and to conduct research in veterinary and animal sciences, dairy sciences and fishery sciences and also to cater the needs of the farming community of the State of West Bengal. During this period the University has been recognized as one of the leading institutions of the country to uplift the socio-economical status of farmers. The hallmark of the University has been the development of human resources to meet the requirements of the society and to promote the socio-economic development of the region.The University has been engaged in commendable task of improving the research infrastructure to develop cutting edge technologies for improved management of animal and fishery resources, disease problems, nutrients, water resources and environment. Significant achievement has been made to improve the research activities with the funds made available from State and Central Governments and non-government organizations.

The following research fellows under two Research Projects will be filled up on contractual basis as per conditions mentioned below:

Post: Junior Research Fellow, Senior Research Fellow, Supporting Staff

A. Name of the Projects: “Livestock related environmental pollutants, contaminants and toxicants (Monitoring of drug residues & environmental pollutant)” sponsored by ICAR, New Delhi, P.I. of the Project: Prof. T.K. Mandal, Deptt. of Veterinary Pharmacology & Toxicology, Faculty of Veterinary & Animal Sciences.
Post: Senior Research Fellow (SRF) - One
ii) “Evaluation of CNS, hepato-toxicity and other related symptoms of different alcohol formulations in Wistar Rats” sponsored by M/S. Chigurupati Technologies Private Limited. PI of the project : Prof. T.K. Mandal, Deptt. Of Veterinary Pharmacology & Toxicology, Faculty of Veterinary & Animal Sciences.


Post: Junior Research Fellow (JRF) - One
Duration: Till termination of the projects.
Age: Not above 35 years for SRF and 30 years for JRF as on 01.06.2015

Qualification: SRF
a. At least 1st class in B.V.Sc. & A.H./ 1st class in B.Sc.(Zoology, Physiology, Biochemistry)/ B.Pharm.
b. Master degree in Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology/ Biochemistry/M.Sc. in Zoology / Physiology / Biochemistry/ M.Pharm.
Desired qualification:
(a) Ph.D. in relevant subject
(b) Experience in operation of HPLC, GLC, AAS for analysis of heavy metal, drug, pesticides etc. and also handling on laboratory animals.


JRF:
a. At least 1st class in B.V.Sc. & A.H./ B. Pharm/B.Sc.(Hons.) in Biochemistry/B.Sc in Physiology/B.Sc in Zoology.

Desired qualification
a. Master degree in Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology/M.V.Sc. in Biochemistry / M.Sc in Zoology / M.Sc. in Physiology / M.Sc. in Biochemistry/M.Pharm.
b. Experience in handling on laboratory animals

Salary of SRF: Rs.18000/- p.m. + HRA (as per ICAR)
Salary of JRF: Rs.10,000/- p.m. (fixed)

B. Name of the Projects:
“Outreach Programme on Zoonotic Diseases (Dermatophytosis and Cryptococcosis in Animal and Their Public Health Importance)” sponsored by ICAR, New Delhi,
P.I. of the Project: Dr. Chanchal Debnath, Deptt. of Vety. Public Health.
Post: Supporting Staff - One
Age: Not above 35 years as on 01.06.2015  
A. Essential Qualification:
a. Graduate in any discipline.
b. Knowledge of typing and computer.
B. Desirable Qualification:
a. Experience in collection samples and data from the field to assist SRF and PI,  
b. Experience on computer work and office work,
c. Work experience in laboratory of department/ project.
Salary: Rs.5000/- p.m. consolidated.
Tenure of appointment: primarily for one year.

C. Name of the Projects:

P.I. of the Project: Dr. Sarbani Hazra of Veterinary surgery & Radiology, Faculty of Veterinary & Animal Sciences.
Post: Junior Research Fellow (JRF) - One
Duration: Till termination of the projects.
Age: Not above 35 years for SRF and 30 years for JRF as on 01.06.2015  
Qualification: Post graduate Degree in Basic Science with NET qualification or Graduate Degree in Professional Course with NET qualification or Post Graduate Degree in Professional course.
Salary of JRF: Rs.25,000/- p.m. + HRA as per Central Govt. Norms applicable in the city / location.

D. Name of the Projects :
“Surveillance of diseases of aquacultured finfish and shelfish in West Bengal and development of disease management strategies” sponsored by ICAR-NAE, New Delhi,
P.I. of the Project: Prof. T.J.Abraham, Deptt. of Aquatic Animal Health, F/O. Fishery Sciences.
Post: Senior Research Fellow (SRF) - One
Age: Maximum 40 years for men and 45 years for women (relaxation is permissible of 5 years for SC/St candidates and 3 years for OBC candidates) as on 01.06.2015  
Qualification:
a. Essential Qualification:
M.Sc. in any branch of biological sciences with PhD in Fishery Pathology and Microbiology/ Aquatic Animal Health/ Microbiology/ Molecular Biology/ Virology/ Biotechnology.
b. Desirable Qualification:  
i. Works related to fish molecular biology etc.
ii. Exposure to PCR, molecular biology, virology and immunological techniques and bioinformatics.
iii. M.F.Sc./ PhD, Graduates in any discipline with practical experience or dissertation in Fish Diseases/ Fish Microbiology/ or candidates with practical experience in Animal/ Human Diseases with knowledge on fisheries.

Salary of SRF: Consolidated Rs.24,000/- p.m. + 15% HRA as admissible in the University rule.

Place of work: Deptt. of Aquatic Animal Health, F/O. Fishery Sciences, Chakgaria, Kolkata and other concerned Departments/ Offices of the University and any place within and outside the State to be decided from time to time by the PI as per requirement of the project.

Nature of duties: All technical and scientific works associated with the broad mandates of the project.

All the appointment is purely temporary and coterminous with the tenure of the project. The appointment therefore, does not confer any right/ claim implicit or explicit for regularization or absorption against any University post.

Venue: Office of the Director of Research Extension and Farm, WBUAFS, 37 K.B. Sarani, Kolkata-37. WALK IN INTERVIEW will be held on 25/6/15 at 11AM.
