NIAB, an autonomous institute under the aegis of Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, is aimed to harness novel and emerging biotechnologies and create knowledge in the cutting edge areas for improving animal health and productivity. The Institute’s research focus is on animal genetics and genomics, transgenic technology, reproductive technology, diseases, nutritional enrichment, and bioinformatics. The Institute aims at translational research leading to genetic enhancement of Indian Livestock species and basic research towards development of novel vaccines, diagnostics and improved therapeutic molecules for farm animals.

NIAB is looking for Scientists and visionary academic leaders with outstanding record of research accomplishments to establish strong centers of research to address the problems of livestock. Persons having effective interpersonal and leadership skills with commitment to work effectively with colleagues as part of inter-disciplinary team are required. NIAB is looking for dedicated and committed Scientists who believe in institution building and have a passion for academic excellence and quality research for filling the SIX positions as per details given below :

Scientist G level :
Pay Band : Level 14 as per 7th CPC (Grade pay Rs 10,000/- pre-revised)
No of post : 01
Age Limit :  50 years
Essential Qualifications

Ph.D. in a relevant area from a recognized University with 10 years of R&D experience after Ph.D with original work as evidenced by patents or publications in top ranked peer-reviewed journals; strong potential for securing and sustaining independent and collaborative extramural funding. Job Requirements: The selected candidates, in addition to their own research programme, are expected to provide support to any of the research projects at NIAB aimed at (I) Livestock reproduction/ developmental biology to address reproductive problems in livestock by employing a combination of traditional and modern biological approaches to create new knowledge and for developing novel diagnostics and therapeutic tools for infertility in livestock (ii) host – pathogen interactions and identification of novel targets for development of diagnostics, leads for vaccines for zoonotic diseases (iii) animal nutrition, efficient feed utilization etc. The selected candidates are also expected to lead the HRD programme of the Institute and teach at PG level. In addition, candidates have to attract extra-mural funding to establish and lead research programs. To assist the Director in performing his/her duties.

Essential Qualifications

Ph.D. in a relevant area from a recognized University with 7 years of R&D experience after Ph.D with original work as evidenced by patents or publications in top ranked peer-reviewed journals; strong potential for securing and sustaining independent and collaborative extramural funding. Essential Qualifications

Ph.D. in a relevant area from a recognized University with 5 years of R&D experience after Ph.D with original work as evidenced by patents or publications in top ranked peer-reviewed journals; strong potential for securing and sustaining independent and collaborative extramural funding.

General Information and Conditions:
1. The positions will be filled up in one or more of the areas mentioned against each post and exceptional candidate from other areas of animal biotechnology also can be considered. Please mention subject area (specialization) on top right hand corner of the application.
2. The number of positions is provisional and may vary at the time of selection.
3. All the positions carry usual allowances as admissible to Central Government Employees of the same pay and status posted at Hyderabad. Higher initial start may be considered in deserving cases.
4. Appointment will be made initially on probation period of two years which may be extended at the discretion of the Competent Authority. Further continuation will depend on candidate’s performance during the initial period of probation
5. Designations of various posts may change.
6. Mere fulfilling minimum qualifications will not entitle a candidate for being called for interview. The applications will be screened by a Committee and shortlisted candidates appropriate for institutional requirement will be called for interview. The decision of the Competent Authority will be final in this respect.
7. Applications from employees working in Government Departments, Public Sector Undertakings and Government funded research agencies will be considered only if forwarded through proper channel and with a clear certificate that the applicant will be relieved within one month of the receipt of appointment order. In the interest of the institute, candidate can be considered on deputation basis.
8. Canvassing in any form and/or bringing in any influence, political or otherwise will automatically disqualify the candidate for the post.
9. Reservations as per the Govt. of India norms in respect of SC / ST / OBC / PWD etc. will apply.
10. Age limits shall be reckoned as on the closing date for receipt of application. However, in case of exceptionally well qualified candidates the upper age limit may be relaxed by the Competent Authority.
11. The upper age limit is however, relaxable up to 05 years for SC/ST and 03 years for OBC as per the Government orders in force only in those cases where the posts are reserved for respective categories, on production of relevant certificates in the prescribed format signed by the specified authority at the time of interview. The OBC candidates should produce the prescribed certificate valid for employment under Central Government.
12. Reservation for persons with disability (PWD) will be considered in accordance to section 33 of Disabilities Act, 1995.
13. Experience for the positions mentioned in the advertisement will be reckoned from the date of acquiring the qualification prescribed for the position.
14. Candidates called for test / interview will be paid single second class rail fare from the actual place of undertaking the journey or from the normal place of residence whichever is nearer to Secunderabad Railway Station on production of relevant document of travel. However, reservation and sleeper charges and surcharge on superfast trains will be admitted if requisite ticket / receipt etc. is submitted as proof of having actually incurred the expenses. In the absence of valid details in the TA claim, the surcharges, etc., will not be allowed.
15. Incomplete applications and/or the applications received after the last date shall not be considered.
16. No fee for SC / ST / PWD / Women / candidates staying abroad. Remaining candidates are required to pay the application fee.
17. Separate application with the DD has to be made for each position applied.

c) Online Application will be available on website www.niab.org.in from 19 August 2017.
d) An application fee of Rs.500/- through a crossed Demand Draft drawn on any nationalised bank and valid for at least 3 months in favour of “National Institute of Animal Biotechnology, Hyderabad” payable at Hyderabad, preferably Punjab National Bank, Gachibowli (Code No.PUNB0498700), Hyderabad. The following details must be filled on back side of Demand Draft:

e) After online submission, candidates should take a print out of the computer generated application form, paste a recent passport sized photograph and sign on each page of the form & on the photograph.
