The Botanical Survey of India (BSI) was established in 1890 with the objectives of exploring the plant resources of the country and identifying plant species with economic virtue. In 1954, the Government reorganised the BSI with the objectives of (1) undertaking intensive floristic surveys and collecting accurate and detailed information on the occurrence, distribution, ecology and economic utility of plants in the country; (2) collecting, identifying and distributing materials that may be of use to educational and research institutions; and (3) acting as the custodian of authentic collections in well planned herbaria and documenting plant resources in the form of local, district, state and national flora

Post : PROJECT FELLOW

Project Title: “Fresh water Phytoplankton Diversity of Bihar Jharkhand states of India: Survey and Conservation” (Ref. No. F.No. 22018/22/2015-RE (Tax), dated 20.01.2017 under AICOPTAX projects sponsored by MOEF&CC, New Delhi.

Working Place: Botanical Survey of India, CNH Building, AJC Bose Indian Botanic Garden, Howrah.

Qualification: First Class Master Degree in Botany / Plant Science. Desirable: Knowledge & Previous Experience in Morphological Taxonomy / Molecular Taxonomy / Ecology / Biology of fresh water Phytoplankton/ Algae.

Duration: Three Years. Emoluments: Rs. 18,000/- per month (Consolidated)

 

Age limit: Upper Age limit for general male and female applicant is 25 and 30 years respectively on the date of publication of this advertisement (11th April 2017). (Relaxation: 5 years for SC/ST and by 3 years for OBC applicants).
