Clinical courses

Researchers are invited to participate in a three days Brain-Storming meet entitled “Renewing the tradition of natural product research in India” - organized by CSIR-Central Drug Research Institute, Lucknow with select participation of past stalwarts and current researchers.

India is a country well endowed with the natural resources with large forest areas in diverse climatic zones, and also 8000 km of sea coast. To study and exploit the full potential of the natural flora and fauna in not only the advancement of science and technology growth but also the overall prosperity of the nation. It is essential that the nation must possess scientific expertise to study, and unravel full chemical mysteries hidden in our vast natural diversity. However, the state of Natural product chemistry in our country has seen a downward turn both in number of researchers, PhD students, publications and also in technical expertise. Globally, the scope of natural product research has expanded to include bio-technology, chemical biology and most importantly drug discovery. There are very limited numbers of researchers in the country working on these aspects and there is a great need to expand our capabilities in these upcoming areas to remain globally relevant. The discussion is expected to bring out ways and means to support this area which is of importance to the Nation. Aiming this broad objective

The following areas shall be discussed:
1. Discovery of new natural products from bacteria, fungi, plants, and marine organisms
2. Biotechnology of natural products, and synthetic biology
3. Chemical Ecology
4. Natural product synthesis
5. Natural products and Chemical Biology.
6. New Drug discovery and Natural products

Eligibility: Researchers in academia (beyond PhD): Young faculties (below 40 years of age), post doctoral fellows, including those in temporary employment in university/ research institutes

Applications for participations should highlight their employment, background & interest in natural products with a detailed CV.
